La Saveur de la Vie is a serial horror novel, written in single chapters every October starting in 2012. The most recent chapter 2024's Part XIII, Dans Les Ténèbres de L'Enfer (La Fin de Toutes Choses), is NOW AVAILABLE.
This story is not in French! One of the leads is French, and as a style choice, the chapter titles are in French, but the story is entirely in English.
Désolée. Cette histoire n'est pas en français ! L'un des personnages principaux est français, et par souci de style,
les titres des chapitres sont en français, mais l'histoire est entièrement en anglais.
I forbid myself to write a single word of this story outside of the Halloween season. It is, and always will be, a free Halloween special. You may be familiar with me as a science fiction novelist, or as a historical detective fiction novelist. Reader be warned, this story has graphic sex and violence, my vampires have teeth. This work is unlike my other genre books. I have a deep love for the season, and a love for the horror genre. That is why I keep this story free for all to read.
In reading this story, you will experience my evolution as a novelist. I've come a long way since 2012, and although I have edited the story slightly year to year, it remains almost entirely as I originally wrote it. That’s not to say that the early chapters are not good, however. I trust you will enjoy it, and I leave it as-is for a reason. I may someday choose to re-edit it in a larger context, and possibly even publish it, but at time of writing, I can’t imagine significant changes taking place. Most books go through massive draft changes, edits, and rewrites. This one shouldn’t. It was an experiment in form, and is intended to reflect that as a work of art.
Clicking the above link will open a .PDF in browser. Previously, this story was hosted on my google blog, but the format became harder and harder to manage as the story grew longer. This format is significantly easier for me as a web-manager, and for you as a reader. It is also significantly easier for a website to host. Technology changes. We must change with it or become obsolete. I trust you don’t mind.
